Not people know this but genital warts is the most common stds in the United States. What does this mean? This means you have a 70% chance of contracting the human papilloma virus by the time you become a senior citizen. As of now, 30 million people around the globe have some form of genital warts and the number is growing larger. It is not because people know they have genital warts and still engage in sexual activity, the number is increasing because the virus is spread unknowingly. In many cases, people are unaware they even have HPV.

Thanks to modern medicine, a vaccine has been created for women to fight against the 4 main isolated viruses; which are HPV-6, 11, 16 and 18. All these HPVs are directly associated with genital warts and the malignancies, ano-genital and cervical carcinoma.

Gardasil is a vaccine that has been approved through the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and can be used for females between 9-26 years of age. This type of vaccine will increase woman’s immune system which will help fight off the virus.

The easy thing to say would be to refrain from engaging in relationship activity that is a nice idea but unrealistic for many people. Many of us enjoy relations, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be responsible when you do have relations either. Uninfected people who expose themselves to those who are infected have a 60% chance of becoming infected themselves. This si why you need to use protection every time you have  relations with you partner. Genital warts don’t have to spread through intercourse alone either, many people have been known to contract genital warts through oral relations as well.

The sad news is that genital warts have no 100% cure. Treatment can only accomplish killing the genital warts on the outside but not the underlying virus underneath the skin. The virus will remain and you will be left with frequent treatments (but hopefully not). You should never ignore your symptoms because they can only become worst potentially. If you do ignore them, you might suffer  harsh consequences.

In order you to prevent HPV from spreading to your partner or your partner to you, you  must take the necessary precautions. Obviously the first one is wear some protection every time you have intercourse. You should wash your hands often with hand sanitizing soap. Do not engage in physical activity when you or your partner has an outbreak. While have sexual relations is wonderful, you must be smart about it so you can enjoy yourself as much as possible with your partner.

If you or your partner has a genital wart that doesn’t mean you can never have relations ever again. If you seek medical treatment from a doctor in a timely fashion then you will be back to your “old ways” in no time. Genital warts are nasty and nobody wants to have to deal with them, not ever.
